Mark Prior







Mark Prior was born September 7, 1980 in Bonita, California. He recieved his first baseball glove at the age of 5 when he started playing T-Ball. At the age of 11, he decided his destiny was to be a baseball player.

Mark Prior graduated from high school in 1998 and was named the San Diego County Player of the Year after going 10-5 with a ERA of 0.93. Prior spent his first year of college in Vanderbilt before he transformed to USC where he then lead his team to the College World Series in 2001. He was awarded the Golden Spikes Award for being the best player in college baseball. That same year the Chicago Cubs drafted Prior, thinking that he can be the next canidate to lead them to the World Series.

Since becoming a full-time starting pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, he has been known as one of the best in the National League. In 2003, Prior was one of the leagues leaders in strikeouts, wins, and ERA. He finished third in voting for the NL Cy Young Award as the league's top pitcher. This hard throwing right hander can blow a hitter away with a 98-mile-per-hour fastball or catch them looking with his strong curve ball.
